It was a great honor and priviledge for PSALTRIES Choir to participate, in presence of Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Ieronymos II and under the direction of Nektaria Karantzi, in such a wonderful concert, at St. Athanasios Church, Athens (14.4.2019).

The Psaltries Concert, under the direction of Nektaria Karantzi, was a part of Vassilis Tsabropoulos' lectures, titled "God and Music". Vassilis Tsabropoulos is an internationally acclaimed pianist, conductor, composer and the artistic director of the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra of Athens, under the aegis of Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Ieronymos II. In this series of lectures, Vassilis Tsabropoulos approaches God's existence through Music and Philosophy.

Our Association has elected a membership of OMSIE

The “Women in Byzantine Music Association” has been declared and elected as a membership of the “Federation of the Associations of the Hieropsaltes of Greece” (In Greek: Ομοσπονδία Συλλόγων Ιεροψαλτών Ελλάδος – ΟΜΣΙΕ).

 

We are pleased to announce that our Association’s request for membership of the Federation of Hellenic Crescent Associations was unanimously accepted by the members of the “Federation of the Associations of the Hieropsaltes of Greece” (OMSIE), at the Federation’s General Assembly held at the Museum of Byzantine Culture in Thessaloniki, on Saturday, 7.7.2018. It is worth noting that it’s the first time that a women’s Association enters at the Federation of the Greek Hieropsaltes.

Nektaria Karantzi with the Swiss Orthodox Choir Yaroslavl in Switzerland for the concert tour: Mystères du chant orthodoxe Ancienne Russie & Byzance

Nektaria Karantzi, the prominent Greek vocalist of the sacred music and acclaimed as one of the most important voices in byzantine chant worldwide and Founder of the Worldwide Association of Women in Byzantine Music has once again been invited to collaborate with the Swiss choir of orthodox chant Choeur Yaroslavl, under the direction of Yan Greepin.

The concerts ”Mysteries of the Orthodox Chant – Ancient Russia and Byzantium” will take place in May 20 & 21, at the “Temple de Coppet” and the “Eglise catholique – romaine de Morat” in Switzerland, with the participation of the Lebanese Soprano Marie Daher and the Russian Bass Fiodor Tarassow.

Service of Matins and Divine Liturgy with the President of the “Women in Byzantine Music worldwide association” Glykeria Mpekiari and the left chanter (psaltis) Dimitris Apostolakopoulos at the St Ephraim Church, Modi, in Fthiotida. At the end of the Services, Archbishop’s Commissioner of Amfiklia, F. Diomedes Panagiotopoulos, in his sermon, noted, on the occasion of Mrs Mpekiari’s presence: “Women in the future will be grateful for the work of the Worldwide Associations of Women in Byzantine Music”, which is the first and largest membership platform regarding the female chanting, providing women chanters with significant opportunities for high-level training and artistic activities.

The New Year’s Eve Cake Cutting for the Worldwide Association of Women in Byzantine Music was held on Wednesday, February 14, in Agia Paraskevi, Athens.
